Welcome to the website of the Nation’s Capital Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., located in the District of Columbia!

Jack and Jill is a nonprofit organization comprised of members who are mothers with children between the ages of two and nineteen. Founded in 1938, the organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, with a focus on those who identify as African American.

The mission of the Five Star, Captivating Nation’s Capital Chapter Our is to provide enriching opportunities for children to develop skills and passions that prepare them to be leaders of the next generation. We are especially dedicated to ensuring that all children, not just our own, have these opportunities. Activities are designed to focus on serving the community and reflect core themes our children are exposed to as residents of the District of Columbia: leadership, political engagement, and advocacy.

We did it… again! Since our chartering, the Nation’s Capital Chapter has been recognized as a Five Star Chapter of Excellence. Our Mother Members executed phenomenal, award-winning programming during the 2022-2024 program years that has nurtured our own future leaders, given back to our community, and made it possible to #domotherhoodtogether. Five Star is the highest recognition a JJOA chapter can receive for its leadership and operational excellence, and we are honored to be receiving it for the third time. Long Live Jack and Jill!

This would not have been possible without the dedication of our Five Star Chair, Mother Nikki Sertsu, our Program Director, Mother Tiffany Blacknall Benjamin, and our President, Mother Kelli Lofton-Oglesby. Cheers to our Three Peat!

The Nation’s Capital Chapter won 1st place in the National Best of the Best Programming Recognition for Civic/Legislative at the 45th National Convention! We received this award for our chapter's DC Statehood Initiatives. A special thank you to our 2021-2023 Program Director, Gavel Club Chairs, and Air & Space grade group mothers and children for all their hard work.

Nation’s Capital Chapter earned the top award for Civic/Legislative programming for the Eastern Region for Cycle 1 of 2024! We received this award for our Igniting Awareness program in the Natural History grade group (K-2nd Grade), which was focused on fire prevention and safety. This phenomenal program took our Natural History Jacks and Jills to be students at the DC Fire Academy, had them collect toys and games to refill the toy chest at Children’s National Hospital’s Burn Unit, and had the entire chapter engage in an elevated trick-or-treating experience where the children handed out 9V batteries for smoke detectors to the house they stopped by!

Thank you Nation’s Capital Chapter mothers for your commitment to excellence and recognizing that we have the Power to Make a Difference for All Children. On Mission. On Purpose.
